On Sportzey a result counts only when both players agree on it. Here is why, and what happens when they do not.
Anyone can type in a score. That is the problem with most rating apps. If one person can write the result, the rating means nothing.
The rule
You log a match. Your opponent gets the score and has to sign it. Only then does it count and does your rating move.
Forty-eight hours
Your opponent has 48 hours to respond. Silence is not a rejection. People get busy, so a result that goes unanswered is not thrown away.
If they disagree
Your opponent can reject the score. If both players reject it, both lose 5% of their rating. The cost is shared, so the sensible move is to agree on what actually happened.
Why this works
- You cannot inflate your own rating.
- Both players have a stake in the number being right.
- A signed result is something you can point to.
Match cards are created only after a result is signed. They exist for badminton and pickleball today. To see how the number itself moves, read how the Sportzey rating works.
